An exceptional French Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted veneer and exotic floral marquetry inlaid grand Pedestal Vitrine;
The pedestal is constructed of a tapered form and is raised by a fine square base with an elegant and most decorative concave and convex stepped designs on mottled feet, adorned with pair of ormolu bands, Egg-and-Dart ormolu band on the top and reel bands on the bottom with a central foliate scrolling marquetry pattern;
The square tapered central part has a mirrored interior with two glass panes and displays exquisite sans-traverse veneer and floral marquetry inlays on each side of Rinceau style, acanthus leaves, scrolling blossoming Tendrils in Rinceau and vine leaves flanked with circular ormolu rosettes on the four corners up and down and centered with a wonderfully executed large pierced foliate Cabuchon ormolu mount; the central sans-traverse veneer inlaid front door is of an arbalest shaped top and ovolo form bottom, adorned with a delicate ormolu band to the contour, foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheon and a beautifully chiseled central ormolu mount on the top of a large ramified ormolu acanthus leaf;
The surmounting cavetto protruding cornice topped with a Cyma Recta style ormolu band and bottomed with an ovolo Egg-and-Dart ormolu band and centered with a foliate scrolling marquetry pattern and resting above the canted inset marble top.
