An impressive French Louis XVI style gilt-ormolu-mounted sans-traverse quarter veneer inlaid Pedestal, late 19th century,
The fine bold stepped moulded and veined marble top with concave sides above an intricately chiseled pierced gilt-ormolu frieze centered with a delicate crowned female mask amidst pierced draping swags, blossoming flowers, volutes on corners above anthemion, all above a wooden apron decorated with ormolu laurel branches.
The pedestal body is finely sans traverse quarter palisander veneer inlaid, ornamented with swaged blossoming floral garland at each center on a rectangular beaded filet centered with a standing putti within a ribbon tied berried wreath and flanked by impressive protruding ormolu foliage designed mounts and chutes at each corner,
The pedestal is raised on a stepped plinth centered at each side with an attractive central ormolu reserve of a pierced C shell issuing acanthus leaves. The plinth is surmounted with ormolu waterleaf foliate encadrement surrounding the pedestal body.
